|
| Billie Holiday was a jazz singer of extraordinary talent - an icon of her day - and one of the living jazz legends of her time. She added her vocal prowess to a vast number of sessions, gracing the recordings of many of the jazz greats of her day - but she was also a star in her own right from the age of twenty. She enjoyed a close frienship with Lester Young, one of the most influential saxophonists in jazz and this highly-creative musical partnership was to last for many years. It was also Young who gave her her famous nickame ‘Lady Day‘. |
