1953 Ken Colyer joined a band with Monty Sunshine, Chris Barber, Lonnie Donegan, that was called Ken Colyer‘s Jazzmen & Skiffle Group. Colyer’s band recorded an album in November 1953 titled ‘New Orleans To London‘. It was one of the most interesting recordings made by British bands during this period. One year later he left the band and it was re-named in ‘Chris Barber‘s Jazzband‘ and exists, with Pat Halcox as its trumpeter, up to this day. Chris Barber’s Jazz Band made a record straight away in July 1954 - New Orleans Joys - a release that enjoyed similar success to Colyer’s recordings, and not only in England.
