| Bix Beiderbecke possessed a unique voice on the cornet, variously described as ‘like the sound of a girl saying ‘yes‘‘ (by guitar player Eddie Condon), ‘like shooting bullets at a bell‘ and ‘like waking up to the first day of spring‘ (Nat Hentoff). His independent spirit created some of the greatest sounds of the classic jazz era and had an enormous influence on his contemporaries - more than a hundred years after his birth he is still a legend. |
